There are lots of resources out there about wine. While you’d almost have to be a certified sommelier to understand some of the content, there are other helpful hints for those of us who like to keep things simple.

Whether you fit into either category – or anywhere in between – the experts at Lake Liquor can help. You may be overwhelmed at first by the sheer volume and variety of our wine for sale. But the better the selection, the better your odds are of finding the right one.

Choose from a huge selection of fine wines at Lake Liquor!

Here are a few tips:

1 Aficionados can identify the main flavor and scent components of every wine they taste. One key to tasting like the pros is following your nose, which holds the key to your palate. A good sniff can reveal subtleties in complex wine aromas. You will eventually be able to isolate flavors and how they interact.

2 No matter how keen your wine tasting abilities, trial and error still works. Sample a few different inexpensive bottles of basic wine varieties to find out which grapes appeal to you.

3 Other helpful hints include picking a brand you’ve heard of and not picking a wine based on price alone. Best-sellers like Robert Mondavi, Kendall-Jackson, and Beringer are popular because they offer consistently good value. For a selection that is universally pleasing, sometimes it’s better to stick with lower-priced wines.

4 It’s always a good idea to ask for help. Our wine experts will make recommendations based on your price range, check availability, and offer other helpful tips. Also be sure to ask about our wine-tasting events.
