We perform many rituals when fall arrives. A few that come to mind include dragging out winter clothes, gearing up for football, and anticipating all the comfort foods cold-weather inspires.
So why not prepare your liquor cabinet for autumn, too? There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of cocktail recipes created to capture the essence of fall. And there are just as many breweries that release fresh autumn crafts only during this time of year.
You’ll find everything you need to prepare your fall collection of beer and liquor at Lake Liquor. We’ve prepared some suggestions, whether you need a good seasonal beer for tailgating or autumn drinks to serve with Thanksgiving dinner.
1 Schlafly Pumpkin Ale – This Missouri brewery’s Pumpkin Ale blends the spices of the harvest with full-bodied sweetness for a beer that tastes like pumpkin pie. Pounds of pumpkin form a malty foundation that supports the fall flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove.
2 Apple Business Cocktail – This gin recipe yields a fruity, citrus-forward, and sweet cocktail. You’ll need the following: 2 ounces of silver dry gin; 1 ounce fresh apple juice; a half-ounce each of fresh lime juice and honey; and, and an apple slice for garnish. Put all ingredients into a shaker, fill with ice, and shake. Strain into a rocks glass with ice, and garnish with the apple slice.
3 Diamond Bear Rocktoberfest – A German-style lager, it’s described as having a malty sweetness and is brewed in the classic Märzen/Oktoberfest style. After brewing with Munich malt and Saaz hops, it’s aged cold for better flavor and smoothness – and easy drinking.
4 Spiced Chocolate Cocktail – If you’re in the mood for a bitter, creamy, spicy, and spirit-forward drink, this is the one. Gather the following: 1 ounce of Patrón XO Café Liqueur; 1.5 ounces Patrón Reposado Tequila; .75 ounce dark chocolate liqueur; fresh whipped cream; and crushed red pepper for garnish. Add ingredients, minus whipped cream, to a shaker, fill with ice, and shake. Strain into a chilled old fashioned. Layer the top with a dollop of whipped cream and garnish with a healthy pinch of pepper.
5 Samuel Adams OctoberFest – Brewed in the same classic style as its name suggests, this classic fall beer is well-respected for its tasty blend of hearty malts. The result is a smooth yet profound flavor with hints of caramel and toffee, without being too sweet due to a slight bitterness from German Noble hops.
